Before the door closes

Check where you will go, how you will return, and whether the route is open. Read the local forecast from an official source and leave enough time for your plan. Let someone know your route when that is appropriate for the outing.

A notebook is optional; appropriate preparation is not. You can practise the observation exercises from a sheltered local spot or your own window.
